Europe on the slow track

We are witnessing a remarkable turning point in global energy markets. Renewable energies have emerged from their niche existence. Data on clean energy investments provided by Bloomberg New Energy Finance show a clear trend: Whilst annual investments in clean energy in China have doubled since 2011, investments in Europe have dropped significantly in the last few years. Europe was at the forefront of the renewable energy sector but might miss the chances offered by the global transformation of the energy sector. Ambitious action is needed.
